CARAMEL COLORANTS

Caramel colorants are made by heating up carbohydrates gradually in a controlled way. Caramel colorants can be offered in liquid or powder form and they are highly water soluble therefore used widely in foods.

Caramel colorants are hard and have a bitter and sharp taste. Their colour ranges from brown to black. They are mostly used in carbonated and still drinks, seasonings, meat products, bakery products, canned goods, soups and sauces.
